I agree with you Kari, and looking at that snip I can't believe that girl is only seven.

The poor child isn't being allowed to be a child by the look of her, I blame the parents wanting to live out their fantasies through their children, it's not right and should be stopped.

Kari, I agree with you 100% These kids pageants are really moms trying to live vicariously through their little daughters.

Kari, I agree with you, Joan, and Carl, it is just plain wrong. The parents should be ashamed of themselves.....and any financial earnings should be off limits to the parents, and set aside for the children.

It seems that 70's feminism was all for nothing. The increasing objectivication of women in the media is apparent. What were once top shelf magazines are now "lifestyle" mags on the middle shelf.
Similarly there is a creeping sexualisation of children-bratz dolls, beauty pageants, talent competition tv shows that encourage children to cavort around dressed like Beyonce and so on.
    I blame the grandparents.

On that note are you a firm believer in this nature over nurture thing or vice versa? By that definition you can only A: blame the child or B blame parents/God/Natural selection .

Of course the way things have been going with me jinxing the football this might as well be my fault too.

Don't get me wrong, I'm as much against this sort of thing too but I fear it's filling a gap.

It used to be that you grew up with a strong religion and ethical code which resisted these sorts of things (but also has many many many downsides which I won't winge about now). Now a days with so many people growing up without religion and not neccesairily a strong set of morals which allows the media to move your opinions on what you 'should' look like much more easily.

That's just my theory but it does seam to fit.

I beg your pardon! None of kids or my grand kids have ever participated in such garbage.

Kari .. so very sad.. I don't understand any parent doing this.
I really think this should outlawed... these children are pushed to grow up way too fast.. never get to be children.
