Now I can really rock the house. It helps when you live out in the middle of nowhere, and your nearest neighbor is half a mile down the road, and I am the only one living in the house (3300 sq ft).

I have wanted to get the same set up. Waiting for my 50" 720Res one dies. My son gave it to us.
Did your new tv come with built in speakers? Our Samsung did plus I hooked up stereo speaker's to it but when you have both systems running there is a split second in sound and it has an echo sound.
But where you live......Who cares?

Not to brag or anything but using the PC as a video source is great and I have been doing it for about 10 years or so, back before they coined the term HTPC.
