As far as this one goes I went with it for three reasons:

1. Student discount

2. Relatively futureproof (64 bit) and it would run 32 bit stuff fine. I never figured Vista would endure like XP but once I heard of Win 7 I knew it would be worth it.

3. Remote desktop. This was before I found out about the dll hacks though . But student discount was on the Pro/Ult versions anyway.

4 (the 4 is silent): It looks cool in the specs hehe.

None of this however is an excuse for rudeness, which is my main "bug bear". People expecting or demanding answers and/or not even saying thanks is what gets to me. I guess common courtesy isn't very common nowadays.
