How long can you go without your computer?

I'm starting this thread because the last time I logged on I had just installed my Corsair H50 closed CPU water cooling unit.Everything was peachy for about 4 hours the temps dropped 10c across the board, then I swithched to
XP drive to update everything and also do a Core Temp check as well as everest, evetyhing was perfect I was like a kid on Christmas morning.
I switched back to my Windows Seven Hard drive and I got a message CPU fan wasn't running at a high enough rpm .
wellyou plug the pump into the CPU header on the boaed. Press F1 to continue so I did,all of a sudden the core usage meter was maxed out, this has never happened while it was loading Windows Live ect, so after all background programs had loaded I checked senors on Evertest and the temp on core 1 was 206 degrees. i shut it down.
to late, I let everything cool down the hot water line hose was HOT the cool line was below room temp. So to make a long story endless I tried to resart the system and to mu suprise I didn't get the press F1 message (I restarted to place a screw driver on the pump and the other end to my ear, to listne to hear if it es pumping.
Now I'm not kidding within seconds of hearing it pump it quit no nosie. so as fast as I could move (hich those of you who know me know of my health problems) and by the time I got it shut off core 1 hit 206F.
needless to say no more CPU
I triedr hours to resesitate it and actually got it to run for about 15 minutes pump working 32c but I noticed I hadn't plugged in one of my opticale drives so while I'm doing this which involved plugging in a top fan I had modded into my case, I had trouble with the adapter where you plug the drive power into the back of the fan extension by the time I had finished ( now this only took about 4 minutes) the pump had quit again and this tiem a no go.
I worked on it for hours got it to boot to entering bios but that's as far as it would go.
so I've been without my system since Wensday and it's not only my computer but also my TV AND I'M LOSNG IT NO INTERNET NO GAMES NO TV. SOMEBODY SHOOT ME.

at any rate I didn't realize how co-dependent I am on my computer New parts here today except the new cooling fan, going to use an old stand by while i duke it out with corsair.
Hope everyone else had a great week and weekend as mine s**ked
I decided to put this new system back in my NZXT Apollo case since it already has a 80mm bottom fan and a 80mm top fan and 3 1200mm clear fans with blue leds.
but I did modd it so I don't have to remove muy board to replace CPU Heatsinks and fans anymore.
Final analysus a couple of days is my limit and I don't remember being in so much pain the last time I built a system but this one kicked my butt Looking forward to re-opening those small finger tip cuts from the inside of a case.
Ans the Corsair was relativly easy to install and worked grest when it did, but I'm thinking I can get the same numbers with a comperably priced air heatrsink and fan. Fabe

The provided fan gets plugged into the cpu_fan header and the pump is plugged into any available fan header. I hope all is not lost...

I can manage for 2 or 3 days until I go into development withdrawal and have to fire up Visual Studio 2008 to continue my present project. I go into code starvation! My iPod Touch keeps me busy during that time so my BP doesn't go too high. <g>

I recently had my flat rewired and refurbished so both my pcs were put away to avoid dust etc.
I was without a pc for three weeks

I was amazed at how much I have come to rely on the computer and the internet.
I was going into serious withdrawal.
Initially I thought it was due to not having music or TV, as I do both through my pc, so I rigged up an old TV and retrieved some CDs from a cupboard but I still couldn't bare not having internet access-this forum, all the sites I regularly visit, emails etc.
Pretty soon I had discovered the late night opening evenings of public libraries with internet access in my town and two other nearby towns.
Each evening I would drive straight to one of these libraries after work and spend about 90 minutes on line before they shut.
As a result I wasn't home until about 9pm each day and eating at about 10pm.
    Not good at all.
I have become an internet addict!

So, I have found out the hard way how much I have come to depend on this thing.

Eric. Sounds to me like Corsair owe you a new CPU. What are the chances?

    Best wishes,John:)

Ugh yeah I got an H50 and they do not do enough to warn you to connect it to direct power only. I actually have not powered my unit up yet but I ewas lucky enough to read on the web about the problem with the CPU fan header and the BIOS auto powering it down.

The pump head is of course not a fan and needs constant voltage or it just wont work and most modern BIOSes will auto control atleast the CPU fan header (if not all of them).
In fact it should probably not be plugged into ANY MB fan header as they could all be auto-speed controlled.

It really shouldn't even come with a MB header connector at all, is should come with a standard drive power connector

More than a day or two, and I would start getting cranky. But hey, I gave up all my other bad habits.....so I want my computer!
Best of luck resolving things with your system, Fabe:)

If I come to think of it, there are really very few things that I could not do without the computer - video editing comes to mind. For the rest, I really see no absolute need for the system. That does not mean that playing with the system, participating in forums, sending emails, etc. is no fun - but life would go on without it.
After I retired from the computer industry, I lived for 15 years without any computer. Looking back, those were the best 15 years of my life.

I wouldn't manage very long without it at all, I rely on it for my shopping and banking plus keeping in touch with people who I can't reach via phone.

I would get serious withdrawal symptoms if I had to lose it for more than say ------not long
