Presumption is very similar to assumption.
Loosely put, the main difference is that assuming is based on 'no evidence at all, or pure guessing without any basis of fact' whereas presuming is still guessing, but is based more on a known or supposed fact
ie You see a man you don't know with a woman and they are kissing.
Assumption = it's either his wife or girlfriend.
That's a pure guess as you don't know the man.
You see a man you do know and you know he has a wife or girlfriend. That man is kissing the woman.
Presumption = It's his wife or girlfriend. Because you know he has one.
However, it's still a guess as he could be kissing a stranger who is neither his wife or girlfriend.
And no-one is offended re the age thing
