Verizon Fios, in your area yet?

Today I discovered the enigma that is Fios availability. In my neighborhood in Staten Island, NY, I spent 30min online with a Fios rep discussing why Fios wasn't available for my specific address yet. My household has been looking to swith from TWC for quite some time now howeve this availability issue had hindered that. However we found out our neighbor a house across from us has Fios triple play and our neihbor whose house is semi-detached from ours has full triple play availability (according to their online checker). Well after a failed chat online I call them up to find out Fios is supposedly engineered by address not general locality, however, it's a simple work around apperntly as my house which is technichally not serviced Fios will be getting the entire triple play hooked up in a week or so. Just goes to show how accurate sales reps are and how shared utility poles do offer Fios when you haggle right.

Wow that's terrific! That's amazingly efficient I don't see why Fios should bother and intervene in Loma Linda. It's like a campus wifi network except its fiber optics for an entire city, bravo that's real innovation at work there. I'm assuming the rates are much more reasonable than most of the major ISP providers being that its subsidized by the city no?

Best of luck to your town, if only tax dollars were used that well in every city. That's the exact same speeds I'll be expecting with my new installation of FIOS except I'm paying about $35 dollars net for it. Still far better off than TWC service, my rates had gone from $30 a month for their poor speeds up to $40 and this has been my third year with them at a new location otherwise I've been a long standing customer and their rates are still jacked up.
