Hello, I've never used a support site for bsods before but stick with me here as I am almost ready to smash everything.

A couple of months ago I upgraded my old computer with 5 new parts.

RAM - G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB DDR1333
Motherboard - Asus m4a79xtd evo
Video card - Evga GeForce GTS 450 (Fermi) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5
Processor - Amd Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz
OS - Upgrade from XP to 7

It was great for a while, after that period that I started getting one BSoD every once in a while. I looked up the problem online and found something about updating chipset drivers. So I did. Ok so I am not very good at this, I might have not removed the old drivers before installing new ones(solved with new HD later). So I start getting all kinds of bsods. They would happen upon booting up, doing nothing, playing games. Friend tells me to reformat and I do. Still getting many bsods.

My hard drive was pushing 5.5 years so I get a suggestion from a mate that it might be the problem. Yesterday I got a new HD. Got a bsod upon installing Win7 on it (not sure which, cause it restarted automatically). Success on second try of the os install (and reformat), but I got my old dreaded 1e bsod again. I installed the drivers from hardware cds. Now I'm getting all sorts of bsod when booting up, safe mode, normal mode, windows is loading screen. Sometimes the computer gets stuck on "Loading ASUS Express Gate"(if i remember the text correctly), an on the Motherboard welcome screen.

What I've tried:
Using one stick of RAM at a time to see if it might be bad (still crash with both individually)
Running a fresh install without any drivers (still crash)
Processor stress test (someone else did it for me)
My brother might have done a memtest but im not sure

I've reached the end of my issue solving capabilities. Can anyone help? All my new parts are still under manufacturer warranty, although I'd much rather take them out and break them.

In the last few restarts, my computer sometimes boots completely but still crashes after a few min, but I managed to get the dump files off. My computer is up right now but I bet as soon as I start doing things it will crash. HELP! and thanks in advance!

I'm short on time so I couldn't do a complete debug, however what I'm seeing indicates either bad ram or a incompatible driver on the system. The kind of dump I'm seeing here doesn't point to anything outside of those two culprits though. I think the rest of your hardware is safe.

To check the ram follow the instructions here.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html
you'll need to let it run overnight to have reliable results.

Memtest runs through the tests on its own, without user input. Just boot into the disk and let it run for overnight to really stress-test your RAM.

May I ask why you are swapping out drivers given by the Win7 installer? This is not XP. Win7 driver install is automated in the installer and via optional Windows Update when you enable hardware updating: Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware You only need to import drivers which are missing in Device Manager after install and optional Updates.

I would not swap out drivers unless performance problems point to them as cause.

Here are other troubleshooting basics for Win7 to monitor it's logs and resources: troubleshooting steps

Well its morning and memtest has been running overnight.

Time 10:01:07 Iterations: 3(it said 6 earlier) Test_Sel: Std Pass: 11 Errors: 0

Does it stop when complete or just run forever until the user exits the interface? Should I end the test now?

gregrocker: im not sure, I assumed that I would need to install the drivers from the hardware cds right when the os was done installing before windows update did anything. Should I do a fresh install with windows doing all the updates, drivers and service pack etc?

Going back to my clean install bsod, could that be caused by a scratched Win7 install disc?

I would also want to know that I have an install with the ddrivers given by the installer, then updated by optional Updates. Only missing drivers should be imported from the Support Downloads webpage for the computer or device model.

Unlike XP, Win7 is truly the authority on which drivers it wants. Testing it without changed-out drivers is worth the reinstall or rollbacks.

Ok, I did a fresh 7 reinstall (reformat). Let see if I'm understanding you correctly. As of right now, i don't have any drivers or updates installed. I should enable Windows Update and let it do its thing for drivers, service pack, fixes, etc? Then if some of the new hardware's software is still not up to date I should get the most recent drivers from the manufacturer website, correct?

(EDIT) I'll also use the computer for a while before I do that, to see if any bsods come up.

After installing and checking optional Windows Updates several times, if any drivers are still missing import them from the Support Downloads webpage for the computer or device model.

Do not worry about outdated drivers or changing drivers for any other reason unless performance points to them as the problem after troubleshooting. Unlike XP, Win7 is the authority on its drivers.

I understand this is strange at first but MS spent a fortune getting the drivers into the installer or quickly available via Updates, even paying manufacturers under WHQL to build drivers so they wouldn't hold out to force us to buy newer hardware as they did in Vista.

At least resist the urge to change any drivers until you see if bluescreens return. Then start checking the logs, and post up the bugcheck here to trace the cause.

Ok, thanks for helping out! I'll get back to you if anything happens

Ok so I have let windows install all the updates that it wants, installed latest video card driver, and installed monitor driver. I still bsod at random times. Last night I played a video game for about 2 hours without troubles, this morning I bsod.

Issues I am still having:
-Computer freezes when "Loading ASUS Express Gate"
-Computer freezes on motherboard splash screen (the one where it tells you the name of the mobo with the logo and how to enter setup)
-Bsods (shown below) the latest one is the 1E error from this morning while opening Dirt 2 on Steam for the first time
-After restart or bsod "Monitor going to sleep", no signal
-CPU Fan Error Press F1 to Resume (my brother says i need a bigger fan or something)

More stuff I've tried:
-RAM test no errors
-Tried moving ram sticks to the black slots instead of blue on the mobo
-Removed mobo battery and reinserted after 10 min
-left case open for better air circulation
-reverting to a restore point without drivers and bsod during the process so it never works

Let me know what I can try now, thanks.

Hello,

It may be worth updating your graphics drivers: Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers
Code:
nvlddmkm.sys Fri Jan 07 21:07:22 2011 (4D27C6DA)
Hardware is the most likely cause here.

What is the make/model of your PSU?

Do you have a different video card you can try out? Preferably a low-power card.

I'll update video drivers when I get a chance. It started crashing more often now, sometimes right after windows loads, sometimes while loading, sometimes when downloading an update for a game. I'll see if I can get the new dump files off before it crashes.

PSU - ocZ Technology Model No. OCZ-520ADJ SLI

I don't have a video card to try but I'll see if I can borrow one.

Also are you saying that those might be the culprits for all of my problems listed or just a select few?

Updated the video drivers using that website, these are the dump files before that update. I think the one from 5-11-11 might be a duplicate of a file I posted earlier, not sure.

Updated the video drivers using that website, these are the dump files before that update. I think the one from 5-11-11 might be a duplicate of a file I posted earlier, not sure.
I wouldn't rule out your PSU; 520w, several years old, and not 80+ certified to begin with. You may seriously consider purchasing this one: Newegg.com - CORSAIR Enthusiast Series CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

In truth, that is probably overkill. I was about to recommend this one, then realized the 650w was the same price. Tough choice, eh?

The crashes have gotten more frequent again (as they did back when the problem first started). I crash often on windows loading screen or a couple of minutes after loading, sometimes when downloading a patch for a video game, or opening one. I'm still having all of the problems I listed earlier as well. I'll try getting the dump files if able to. Windows startup repair sometimes pops up on boot but crashes.

I started this as a budget build and would rather not spend another $90. If I borrow a power supply from a friend, will I see immediate improvements if that is indeed the problem?

That seems like a good idea. Assuming the borrowed PSU meets your power requirements, you should see no BSODs if the old PSU was indeed the cause.
