    avg antivirus skrewed my win7

    Hi

    well, i installed win7.
i customized my desktop & all (to show my computer on the desktop for example)...
i installed comodo firewall & avg antivirus. & after i restarted my pc all my customization was gone!

i got the normal aero theme & all (that i previously canceled)... + the system didn't allow my to run almost anything by saying something like "your current internet security settings prohibit running....." or something similar.

so i uninstalled comodo firewall to check if this is what skrewed me. & no. so i uninstalled avg - & yes. this was the one. i now can run things. but for example when i want to customize mt desktop icons & show my computer on the desktop - i can't! i click it but nothing happens. so i enter the persenolize menu again - & the "V" that i checked there near show my computer is unchecked...

i don't mind right now about what anti virus to use, i just want to set it to be good again. how?
    thanks

If you did an upgrade, you must do it over with a clean install or you will be plagued with problems

    I certainly agree

While some have managed upgrades without issue, the large majority have many issues.

Clean install is always best if possible, because no previous settings or bugs are carried over nor are any new issues introduced due to previous settings.

AVG usually causes more problems than it solves, it also wrecks havoc with Windows 7 networking, creating problems where none exist. In fact most any real time A/V can cause problems with networking.

Have you tried system restore ?

Click on the start orb, then type system restore in the searh box, and hit enter. Follow the instructions.

    Hope this helps.

Start with system restore from a couple days ago

    Then...

I am not a fan of AVG anymore, install AVAST!
    - awesome GUI
    - cleans root kits and removable storage
    - doesn't use may resources
    - doesn't drain battery (if applicable)
    - simple and clean
