So basically, we have to remove out internet browser, or what exactly will I be removing? I don't want to remove something I use in order to fix a problem that started on MICROSOFT'S end, not mine.

Well, that's Windows. Take it or leave it. Many times it is the users that solve problems they didn't even know about. And the fix doesn't remove IE.

You don't have to remove any browser? And it was apparently an Adobe update, not MS's fault (this time :))

    SOLVED!!

Had nothing to do with any of that!
I started to have problems like this - http://www.ilertech.com/2010/05/thes...ant-be-opened/ little after I had these gadget problems.

After trying to solve both problems I noticed the solutions proposed had to do with altering the same directory in regedit, so I wondered if both problems were caused by the same thing.

I had recently firewall-blocked a program from connecting with the internet that had entered my PC somehow near the same time the gadget problem appeared but neither my AV nor malwarebytes found harmful, so I let them be. After I blocked it the second problem appeared...

The program had the name "Nice Wares" and was running in the processes. The blocked programs were called that way but the name of the files were "lqyvua.exe" in the C:\Windows directory and "lpd.exe" (or was it ldp?) in User\appdata\local\temp.
These 2 files were making 3 programs run at startup - the 2 files and another called "nwares.exe" or something like that, dependent on lqyvua.exe.
I checked again with the AV and MWB and nothing. So I just stopped the process and deleted them, and since then I started the PC 3 times and gadgets ok and no more windows security thingy.

I guess it was some kind of new malware, I haven't found anything on the web about them....

    Happy....

    I have win7 64bit premium.

Tried cmd stuff, regedit, reset gadgets, reverting system, still it just shows a black w/ red line in it for the clock & pretty much every other gadget doesn't show at all or is a blue ball with ( i ) in it.... it was fine this morning untill I uninstalled a bunch of programs that instaled with that winphone7devtools: .net4 silverlight visual10 xna. I did put .net back on eventually after it glitching & got it removed with a .net prgm cleaner, then re'installed.

I can only think of 1 thing left to try is a factory restore. & no i don't hav win7 dvd I got pc from Staples Store, they don't give out the install disc's up here in Canada with pc's.

everything else seem to work fine, just the very usefull/handy gadgets that I uses are broken. I even tried turning everything off in msconfig that wasn't needed to run windows, still black boxes, so it seems like some file that they need to display is missing. I'll go check again for win7/gpu/cpu/mobo updates but none of that was changed so thats not the issue, their all up to date.

Just doesn't feel right with no gadgets there, & I don't like the 3rd party gadgets, just adds more problems. This should be fixed anyway.
Any help would be Awesome spent all day looking online trying to fix my gadgets.

    Fix for 64bit

    Hey jq117,

I had the exact same issue with my 64bit.
I fixed it myself. (I even registered to the forum, so I can post this!! :P)

I ended up deleting all the contents in my registry Zones keys.
In the 64bit Windows there is also this key::

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones]

In the end I just gave a search to all 'Zones' keys (no Values and data)
Tick the "Match whole string only" thing
    and just search.
Empty all the zones directories in your registry that have regards to Internet Explorer, and pray.
(make a backup if you are reluctand)

This worked like a charm for me.

Working!!!! not in 1 day but in forever!!!!!

I'm sorry... but it solved nothing.....

It does work for the current session after doing just the regedit thing, but every time I restart the PC after having solved the problem, the gadgets disapear or go nuts again...
And in the regedit the zones directory reapears.... Every time I turn on the computer I have to delete that directory again and restart sidebar.exe/the gadgets.....

I even did the regedit thing followed by the cmd registry thing....

Is there any way to stop the zones directory from reapearing or at least with that problem?

I noticed that after I restart the gadgets the Zones dir has numeric named directories inside (0, 1, 2, etc...), but when the gadgets go crazy there are some directories with letters (L, ...) also.

    How can I solve this???

I went to regedit again and this time I deleted the directory again and yet, after I restarted, it is still like that...

    Now what?

    I'm sick of this.....
    ............. Please help!!!
