Because I want to be able to quickly distinguish between actual item and its shortcut, I vote to not remove the shortcut arrow from shortcuts. Weird stuff...the shortcut arrow on icons is changing to images resembling application icons. Notice in the pic that shortcuts to a Chrome web address, a PDF file, a Folder, and a Word document have an Excel icon where the white shortcut arrow should be.

In windows XP there was a program called tweekxp that could remove the little arrow swoosh icon in the lower left corner of your shortcut icon. I was wondering if there was a way to remove the icons without having to download anything in windows 7?
