AERO Registry Entries

Hi,

Recently I got a new machine and started tweaking it to lower the RAM usages. Unfortunately I did so before I fully experienced Aero. I have fiddled with compiz in Linux before, but I didn't get to experience Aero all the way.

The way I permanently disabled it was by regedit. I don't remember what the entry was!
It was one single entry that, I think, disabled all Aero's super effects. Is there a list of registry entries to check so I can turn all of Aero back on?

If you haven't modded your system to far in other directions I would sugget doing an sfc/ scannow which will reset your registry and default your system files.

Can you not remember (says Mr. Memory Man ) where you got the original link to change the registry entry anyway?

Hello and welcome to the forums, Unitron6991.

Always, Always remember to backup the registry. Try going to the link -> here

but instead of disable as it says put to 1 to enable them, also have you tried right-clicking desktop -> personalize -> Windows Color: enable transparency?

Got it.

Turns out it wasn't the registry....

I started poking about checking to see what services were disabled.
It was:

"Desktop Window Manager Session Manager"

clicked->enable
clicked->Start service

Whoa....
Instant awesome.

Thanks for your help.
