How can I make Win7's Windows Explorer behave like it did in WinXP?

    Hi

Is there any way to make Windows Explorer in Windows7 (64bit) behave exactly like Windows Explorer in WinXP ?

    Background:
To me the very worst thing about Windows7 is the STUPID way that the new Windows Explorer works. What drives me NUTS is the way that in the Folders view, when you cursor Right or cursor Left, the selected line instantly scrolls up and down in an extremely confusing/unhelpful manner. Specifically, when you select a 'closed' folder and then hit Cursor Right, sometimes it jumps (i.e. scrolls up) but sometimes it doesn't! And often it's very hard to see what folders you have within the folder that you have selected

    Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrggggghh ! .... >>:-[

Also, when you first open Windows Explorer (e.g. Right-click Start button ==> click "Open Windows Explorer") it puts you into a bloody stupid place. Personally for easy of synchronisation, I have always kept my documents in a folder called "c:\docs\" - but this is nowhere to be seen, and EVERY time I open Windows Explorer, I have to go and find C: and then open the Docs folder. I am in and out of Explorer all day long and the extra clicks are just bloody waste of my time.

I am reluctant to install a completely new bit of software to act as Windows Explorer because a) I want to build my Windows7 skills and b) in practice there are always unwanted side effects !

    Any suggestions?

If you want to build your skills with Windows 7, then you are going to have to learn to use it... If you cant be bothered to this, then reinstall xp...

To solve the first problem you should try Classic Shell: Welcome to Classic Shell. One of its features is that it fixes the folder jumping DOWN when you expand it. The folder jumping UP behavior is standard, and is present even in XP. The reason for it is to see the sub-folders of the one you just expanded.

To solve the second problem, search this forum for ways to customize the default folder when new Explorer window opens. I've seen it multiple times, but am too lazy to look it up for you :)
