First, try the standard method to change the desktop background to the available wallpapers. To do this, point your mouse to an empty place on your desktop, right-click -> Personalize. You can either choose from available themes or click on the link (in the bottom of the window) "Desktop Background". This will give you an opportunity to browse for the image you want to use as your wallpaper as well as to choose the options on how to display it.

without knowing what version the OP is using, its hard to say... Windows 7 Starter doesn't allow you to change the wallpaper...

Hello Srinivas, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might double check with the tutorial below to see if you may have checked the Remove background images (where available) box in the Ease of Access Center. If so, uncheck the option and apply to see if you are able to change you wallpaper afterwards.

    Remove Background Images (where available)

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    Hello Srinivas,

Did you have a chance to check to see if what I suggested above may be the issue?

    I have solved it

Ok i figured out how to fix it. what you need to do is first follow the steps of Remove Background Images (where available). but when you get to Hide color most likely the box will not be checked, check the box. then go into personalization and change the color of your background and save it. then go to theme and change theme to an older windows theme. then go back and uncheck the box for hide color and put whatever background you were trying to do. What happened is when you did system restore it froze your last picture on your background. and what this does is removes and trace of anything and solves it for you.
