    Gadgets problem

    Hi!

I've been using Win 7 for roughly 9 months.
In the last week I've encountered a problem with the gadgets...
when i press "show desktop" the gadgets disappear and they reappear only when i press "show desktop" again or open a window and minimize it.
i tried system restore but when i opened the restore window it said there are no restore points (which is weird considering the fact the auto creation of restore points is enabled).
how can i fix the problem with the gadgets?

    many thanks,
    Michael:)

Hello Michael, and welcome to Seven Forums.

This is what it's suppose to do. When you click on "Show Desktop", it clears the desktop of all opened windows and gadgets so you will be able to see all shortcuts and files that you have on the desktop. This action cannot be changed.

If you only hover the mouse pointer over the "Show Desktop" button on the taskbar, it will only make the opened windows transparent (Aero Peek). The gadgets will still be seen.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Have you switched off UAC recently . I had no restore points and after a little delving i discovered that turning UAC off deletes the restore points ive since rectified it with a little help from Bare Foot Kid who has written a tutorial that enables restore points to be created at start up. thanks for your replies...
are you sure the gadgets supposed to disappear when you press "show desktop"?
it never happened before and it's very annoying.
is it possible to prevent it from happening?

    They always have for me.

No way of preventing it other that hover over "Show desktop" for Aero Peek instead.
