Chaging HDD Icons - Win 7

    Guyz,

I want to chnage icons tht i get after clicking "My computer", i.e, My HDD and Optical drives...

Now i know this procedure here:
    Drive Icon - Change

Now, i knw a backdoor virus named explorer.exe as well, so if i manually create such a folder in registry will it anyway make it easier for any virus/attacker to gain control of my PC easily ??

PS: i have already tried the same on my spare HDD and icons are working great, but i am worried abt security (if its related)

Hello Craige, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Since you are not taking ownership or changing permissions while using the tutorial to change the drive icons, you will not be increasing your vulnerablilty to a virus or malware. It is perfectly safe to do. :)

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

There is also a program that does it for you. :)
It is called "Drive Icon Changer."
Google it, you can find it on CNET.
