Change Boot Logo/Screen?

You know, if you don't want the boot animation, I have a few steps for you.

NOTE: When you turn on your computer/laptop, there will be a blank screen and will be taken to the login screen.

If you want to customize it, then don't ask me. I think having no boot animation is better than having the Windows animation.

1. Go to Start, and type in msconfig.
2. Go to the boot tab.
3. Find boot options and check the box "No GUI boot".
4. Reboot and there you go!

I did want to change my bootscreen to the x64 bootscreen, but I guess I don't want to mess up my computer (I have did before. Never try to rename shell32.dll!)

Just so you know, I'm not that much of a computer guy, but I still know my stuff

it won't work, the winload.exe.mui file does not even exist from what I can tell.

It is here C:\Windows\System32\en-US\winload.exe.mui

Theres another in C:\windows\system32\boot\en-us\

Kinda obvious, now that i think about it

Heres what I did:
ResHacked the winload.exe & .mui's and rebooted. Went straight to the recovery PE which fixed my edits.

- First, Use ResHack with %windir%\system32\bootres.dll file
- Extract the RCData resource.
- So you have two files, one *.rc and another one *.bin
- Rename the file *.bin into *.wim (not win!!)
- Use 7zip to extract your *.wim file
- In the extracted files you have an xml witch describe the second file witch is the boot logon bitmap animation!!!

Now you can modify the logon animation! But be carefull, to have a correct xml description file!!!

So tried the above method.
I added a fancy red squiggle all the way down the 200*12000 .bmp so I should have some red 'staticy' as the boot image does it's thing.

Checked the .xml doc to make sure its all kosher. Looked like it was, filesizes were matching up, but there were two entries:

no idea what this is. Any ideas to decypher? Looks to me like hex, but my decoder outputs a bunch of ???????'s

After modifications, do the inverse procedure, with a backup of your original bootres.dll file.

Done. ResHack makes a copy of the original when you save it, so I didnt. Although I should just to be safe...

So I rebooted and half expected it to work.

However, this was not the case.

Was just a blank screen until login, but I did notice the screen flicker, so it might of been processed and ignored?

I advise you to try on a virtual machine before!

Yea. No. This was on my production box at my workdesk.

So I hope this helps somewhat, or maybe someone can point me in the right(er) direction?

When using the EasyBCD tool to add the 32bit RC into the 64bit's boot options that replaced the 7 Boot splash screen with the Vista scrolling bar screen instead.

That was one customization I used a repair install to correct afterwards once the entry was in!

well i have a motherboard intel desktop board DG41RQ, 2.4 GHZ pentium dual core, 2 GB DDR2. I'm now using windows xp service pack3. In the last few days i want to format to windows7 ultimate. But while it was formatting my motherboard reboot and appear a blank screen and i can't do anything. I've tried to restart so many times, but the result still the same. Is it any solution??

you could try searching around on google to see if your motherboard has a way of resetting the BIOS and/or CMOS e.g. Dell inspiron Bios reset

you could also try unplugging all Hard and CD/DVD drives and then powering on to see if that helps. A while ago that same thing happened to me and it was because i had my PS3 controller plugged into the PC as soon as i unplugged it my PC booted just fine.
