Disable Start Menu side bar pop out

Can anyone tell me how to disable the side bar pop outs that are present in the start menu?

For example MS Word is in the task menu and to the right you can view a list of recent MS Word documents. I don't want to see that list at all.

    Can it be disabled?

Here's an example with Windows Paint:

    Thanks
    :)

I think I worked it out....they are called 'jump lists' I think...I set 'how many items to show in jump lists' to 0...and now there are no jump lists viewable.

So I think I did it

I'm not sure those are also jump lists, but what you were originally referring to are MRUs (Most Recently Used items).

    These should help.
Jump Lists - Reset and Clear All Items
Jump Lists - Change Number of Recent Items to Display

    Disable it permanently ?
Right click on taskbar and select "Properties" . It will open the Startbar and Startmenu Properties Window . In the Start menu tab, uncheck this item under privacy ... it will not appear anymore .
