i've got a couple of simple skins here (the big one is home-made) - and they only eat up 20MB.

Mine does, too. Coming from the person who was only given the options of reformatting, reinstalling manufacturer's software, backing up data or doing a combination of these upon startup this morning. Gotta be more careful about what I do with this thing.

This is somewhat intresting and confusing because can't you make windows system tray and windows transparent?

...only with aero.

rainmeter doesn't affect window transparency, and only adds a system tray icon.

the overlaid rainmeter graphics on top of your wallpaper are not proper windows. rainmeter just 'prints' them onto the desktop.

so basically I have a taskbar ontop of a taskbar...
Well.. I thought you could make it transparent since you said that Aero is not involved...

are you talking about the default skin? you can get rid of that and load another one. google for something you like the look of, save it to your skins folder, then right-click on the rainmeter icon in the system tray and select the skin from the config menu.

the website tutorial is pretty good.

or the program's help file - right-click system tray icon and choose 'help'.
