    i use microsoft security essentials and malwarebytes. theres also spybot search&destroy and ad-aware, all of which have free versions. whatever you run, make sure it does a thorough scan, not quick scan.

    You have 2 threads open for the same problem. Here's what I posted in the other:

    Do you use Norton 360? That icon overlay in Norton 360 indicates a file that’s been changed since its last backup. If this is the case, you can turn it off.

    Click Settings in the Norton 360 main window, untick the Backup Status Indicators check box and click Close.

    If not, let us know, and we'll dig deeper
    As you've confirmed you do use Norton 360, this will be your answer. In the future, please start only one thread for each problem. If it ends up being in the wrong forum, a moderator or admin will move it
