    Changing network icon

Is it possible to change the network icon (that sits in the notification area) to something that it usefull ?. The network icon on my XP machine gives me colour indication when it's transmitting/receiving, shows me traffic stats, and links to various network properties pages, whereas the on in Win7 does diddly squat (apart from open network centre).

Is it possible to change it to an XP type icon that is actually usefull ?

    Hello Odd Job,

Option Two in the tutorial below may be able to help you with changing it's icon.

    Notification Area Icons - Customize

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Thanks Shawn, but what I'm really wanting to do is change the functions that the icon can carry out (such as displaying traffic, more right click options etc). Although I suppose that would require a fair bit of programming knowledge.

I'm not sure if that's possible or not. Hopefully someone may know a way and post how for you.

Try Network Activity Indicator for Windows 7 - IT Samples

This is what I have on my system, and it looks just like the old XP icon.

    You're welcome.

Incidentally, are you aware that you can have this start up automatically by selecting Load at Windows Startup in the Settings page?
