I would caution against trying to mirror the GUI. Let's assume you can do it for other languages than Hebrew and Arabic. It will not just put the start menu on the other end, but also:
* All text (even English) will be right-aligned (the text will still be the left-to-right, just moved to the right)
* The icons will be on the other side of the text
* All taskbar buttons will be backwards
* The navigation pane in Explorer will be on the right and the folders will open to the left
* The columns in Explorer will be backwards
I have to run in mirrored mode from time to time to test Classic Shell, and using it even for 5 minutes gives me a headache.
Wow, I've thought about this before, I'm glad I'm not alone. I'm a right hander (sorry lefties) and it seems like it would be a nice fluid flow since titlebar buttons, browser search and scroll bars are on the right already. I didnt really pay attention to the details and didnt notice that the Hebrew GUI was simply mirrored. You guys on this forum are great Im sure someone will figure this out. Is anyone else enjoying this great -5 degree weather?
Hello Vaughn,
As a workaround, you can use the free program Start Killer to remove the default Start button (orb). Afterwards, you can place this Start Menu.exe file I created in a new folder somewhere, unlock the taskbar, pin this new folder to the right side of the taskbar as a toolbar. It will still be just to the left of the system tray icons, but the Start Menu orb will be on the right side of the taskbar instead.
Hope this helps,
Shawn
it is a good idea...but i am stubborn lol
i like the look of the orb lol
The orb will be what you drag/click. But AHK has such horrible support for transparent PNGs. I had to find some base code and attempt to modify it to my needs. Still trying.
I have checked in on this thread a few times.
It has to be one of the very first files loaded at startup. Before it accesses the registry. Im sure its going to be in one of those MUI files. winload.exe.mui? Think about it, before windows starts to load, it has to know what language to use on the display. Example; "STARTING WINDOWS". That text is in the MUI files. I would check those, but as we know, those are digitaly signed, so we cant easily mod them.
Just my 2 cents.
You could drag the taskbar to the right side of the screen. The start orb will be at the top though. I tried all 4 sides and its ether at the top or on the left side of the screen.
