Gadget Errors: Static Duplicate Gadgets + Settings Won't Stick

First of, as this is my first post, I would like to say Hi to everyone.

And now for the problem I am having:

The problem I have with Gadgets are twofold, firstly, when dragging a gadget to the desktop from the gadget menu, it will place the gadget onto my desktop fine, however it will also place a static version of the gadget, which you can not interact with at all, nor can you remove it, without shutting down all gadgets. When you drag a new gadget on to the desktop, the previous "Static Gadget" is replaced with one of the new gadget. This does not happen when I double click to add the gadget.

The second issue I am having with gadgets is regarding the settings of a gadget. For example, if I were to go into the settings of the default clock, and change the clock to a new style, and then select OK to confirm the settings, the settings menu will disappear, as if the change has been successful, however the gadget will stay the same, and the changed setting will have no effect what so ever.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 Bit, which I upgraded to, from Vista. (Yes, I know I should have done a clean install...) I have previously run the Vista sidebar fine on this laptop, and the problem only started when I upgraded to 7.

I have tried this on multiple gadgets, both default windows ones, and ones downloaded online, all with the same effect. I have also searched through Google to try and find something which might help me, but to no avail.

Sorry if this has already been posted, I did try to search, and only found the information about making sure UAC is enabled, which I tried, however it didn't work.

PS: If necessary, I can upload a video demonstrating these errors.

    Thanks for reading!

Welcome to Seven Forums HovR. I have never dragged a gadget to the desktop, I just double click to start the gadget? Try a few things for the gadget problem(s). Try turning the Windows Gadget Platform off, reboot, then turn it back on:

Windows Features - Turn On or Off

If no help, try the System File Checker

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Note you will have to repatch your system after if using 3rd party theme.

    Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried them, however the Gadget reboot unfortunately had no effect, and the System File Check returned with:

    Code:
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
    Thanks Again,
