I disabled Libraries, but why does it still show in save prompts

So I've disabled Libraries by using the registry file found at How to Disable “Libraries” Feature in Windows 7? - Tweaking with Vishal

As you can see it no longer shows in Windows Explorer,

It however still shows up in say when I want to select a folder to download from Firefox or any other programs.

I want the entire Library function and icons nuked from my PC. How can I do this? Thanks

(also, i have 64bit windows, i hear some of the reg files out there only work with 32bit or something?)

    Hello Iamtheone,

Please use the Restore Default Setting.reg file download at the link you posted above to restore libriaries and thier registry entries. That method is just a horrible way to remove libraries since it may cause unknown issues by removing all library entries in the registry like that.

Afterwards, use the tutorial below to remove libraries instead. It will only hide them to prevent them from displaying in the navigation pane (including the save prompts) instead of butchering the registry.

Libraries Folder - Add or Remove from Navigation Pane

    Hope this helps,

It just says unable to save permission changes, access denied.

I know I am on the administrator account because there is only 1 account on the pc.

Creating another Administrator account also failed to change permission.

    iamtheone,

If it will not let you change the permissions of the ShellFolder registry key, then take ownership (step 3 in Option Two of Method Two at link) of it and see if you may be able to afterwards.

solved. thank you. I am now free from looking at the blasted Libary feature.

call me old fashioned but I like to organise my folders manually. I don't even use "my documents" etc because I am hardcore and only have OS and essential programmes on my SSD drive with a HDD for everything else.

You do realize that is why Libraries are there so you can do exactly that?! Libraries allows you to put your files where ever you want then link them all into a single view.
