    Missing Icons

I'm new to the forums here so i'm not sure if i'm in the right category, so please bear with me.

Recently i noticed that some of my folder/library icons are gone, replaced by the default (noicon) icon as shown here: Missing Icons-broken-icons.jpg. I have searched through my settings, and searched forums and help sites for an answer. The problem is not solved by deleting and reloading the icon cache.

Any ideas?? not urgent but very annoying.

    thanks

I guess there is something more difficult . The favorites icon and a drive icon is also missing, and there are mixed icons there .

How do you change your icons ? Do you use something like Stardock Iconpackager or alienware or some iconpacks with installer to customize icons, and you have uninstalled the program ?

If the answer to the question I asked is yes, then the default icons are no longer present in your system; but there is obvious way to get things back, But the easiest solution is Repair Install .

    found a go-around solution

I haven't used any outside program to change my icons. also i verified that the icon library imageres.dll is in the right location as outlined in the post above, but none of it worked. I still don't know how they disappeared, but i went around the problem, created a new user, and copied all of my files and settings over. the new user has all of the icons.

Windows 7. Amazing most of the time, but sometimes crazy stuff happens for no reason....

    Thanks for the help
