How to edit command line in shortcuts for .exe

I want to edit a command line in my Quake4 .exe shortcut so I can enable an ingame singleplayer cheat console but I am not sure how to do this... am really new with computers.

    Cheat: Cheats List
Create a shortcut to the Quake4 executable and edit the shortcut's command line with the suffix +set com_allowConsole 1 to enable the console. Note if the command line uses quotations, add the suffix outside of the quotes.

Can anyone explain to me how I do this?

I have been editing the target line under properties of shortcut but keep getting an error saying that it is invalid.

    If I remember correctly...

Right click the Quake4 exe file, somewhere in the properties there should be something about commands or arguments or something like that. Paste that line ("+set com_allowConsole 1") in there, and try it.

Thanks got it working now... I did two things to get it to work... opened shortcut as admin and also found online that have to put a "-" right before the line.

    Thanks:)
