Removing "Shut Down" from the Start Menu

    Hi,

I've seen tons of how-tos on how to remove shut down, hibernate, restart and sleep from the start menu, but I was wondering if perhaps there was a registry edit for removing only "shut down" and "restart" from the menu? I'm running a laptop with multiple users and I would at least like to have "hibernate" as an option so it can at least be shut down without any of m work being lost.

    Thanks!

Hello Alicia, and welcome to Seven Forums.

As a workaround you could do the tutorial below to remove Shut Down, Restart, Sleep, and Hibernate from the Start Menu, Start Menu power button, CTRL+ALT+DEL screen, and Alt+F4 Shut Down Windows dialog for all users in Windows 7. Afterwards, create a hibernate shortcut and/or sleep shortcut that you could use say on the taskbar or where you like.

    Hope this helps,
