    It's on the customize tab.

Folder Icon Change - Vista Forums

    select new icons-capture.jpg

Note that this tab is not always visible. for instance if you look at a folder via a library it won't be there if you look at the same folder through the directory structure you should find it and your new icon will show in all views

the customize tab does not show up for me and your explanation where to do it is a bit over my head. i'm in windows explorer; i tried in the tree on the left and on the folder on the right and neither showed a customize tab.

    Hello RyuB,

What are the folders or full path of the folders that you are wanting to change the icon of?

    RyuB,

Are you right clicking on this folder from within the C:\Users\User-Name\My Documents folder location, and not from within the Documents library location?

no, i was stupidly trying to do it within the "my documents" folder. i've gone from the c drive and that worked fine. thank you for telling me that.

sometimes i get annoyed, if i call the people who sold me the computer and ask them something like this, they won't tell me, for example i asked how to reveal hidden files and she wouldn't tell me because it was "too dangerous" lol. took me a few days and some lumberjack language to find it. i paid 2 x the price to buy from a local store instead of costco or some place like that because i thought i would get service that way.

so i'm prolly gonna be asking some dumb questions on the forums for a while til i get this new puter set up and i know where things are.

thank you ever so much for your help.
