Archie,
We must be on the same wave length as I was thinking of making a 9/11/2001 sig also...
Maybe even a wall if I get time.
Have a great day M8

Let's post up some new pics GFX team. Post a picture of you
Dennis, Arc, Chan,Jdobsy, and myself are already there....Nick?
@ Dennis, I found it, seems I have to click the Rectangle tool first...
Attachment 174263
I do that anyway Gary Thanks for the suggestion though!
Dennis, I don't do it that way and I'm unaware of those features in Photoshop. What I do is make a rectangle (layer 1), duplicate the layer (layer 2), smooth the edges of layer 2 by say 50px, select layer 1, delete an chunk off two opposite corners to expose the layer behind, flatten the image.
It's kind of a bodge job really But it does the trick
I'll give this a go in a minute Archie, thanks for the suggestion!
Very nice sig Archie!
Hi Archie,
For copying the layer the method is excellent, and one doesn't lose the shape either In GIMP, for example, it seems to be impossible to copy shapes via ctrl+click or any other way. But...well, the jagged edges still remain, copying the layer shape also copies the exact shape outline.
Athene, Ctrl+click selects an object in photoshop or elements . For making rounded rectangles, use the keyboard command "U" for adobes products , and choose the rounded rectangular tool. But it makes a mask in the paths pallet , which cause the creepy corners . So I tried to avoid the mask .
Ctrl+click on the mask in layers pallet will select (not copy) the shape . now create a new layer and fill the selection with color .... which will make an exact copy of the shape, but not the mask .
If you work on it, it will be free from this unwanted things .
Well, tomorrow I will try to make a detailed post on it, step by step .
Thank you, Archie, that is very kind of you, but please do not take so much trouble
In the meantime, I'm just posting a few screenshots of what I've been doing in Photoshop Elements (version 5 in the screenshots - I've got the latest version 9 on the other computer, but the results are the same with regard to the jagged edges). First, since I do not have rounded-corner-rectangular-selection tool, I have to use a shape tool. So I use that and then I simplify it (image 1).
In image 2, I create a new layer, select the black shape but with the new layer highlighted, and then, in image 3, fill the new layer with blue. And...well, in image 4 (with the black shape hidden) you can see those edges.
