Think I found the reason Brink's fix was only temporary. Found a post that recommended checking the box for "remembering each folders view settings". I do remember doing this with past Windows OSs but I do not have such a setting in my Win7 Pro. Have they done away with it or is it missing?

I don't see it either now that I look, though It seems to be behaving for me as if that was the setting...

though this imght help or provide a clue...

Changes to the size, view, icon or position of a folder are lost

Basically if you have a LOT of folders, you can overrun the registries limit of being able to remember all the settings of each one. "Note By default, Windows stores the view settings and the customizations for only 400 folders at the same time." The above link will show you how to completely reset everything and expand the size of the number of remembered settings.

[edit] Hmm, in Windows 7 the default is already supposed to be 5000 folders though... I did see some talk about issues relating to upgrading from XP causing that value to not be updated and moved to the new Win7 location though. So the above link may help especially if ou upgraded.[/edit]

After closer observation, I find that a reboot does change all my folders from "list" back to "list detail". Only about half of the computer folders are changed but at least I only have to change one folders view to "list" and all the offenders are back in line until the next reboot.
