    Gadgets Download

I am unable to download any of the third party gadgets from windows live galllery. After I click install, nothing happens, I do not get an acknowledgement of anything downloading, and of course nothing appears in my download folder. I am baffled.

Welcome to Seven Forums bartonmaru. What browser are you using? When you click install, you should get a download dialog asking you to run or save. A Guy

I rarely use FF, but when I clicked install I get this dialog:

What happens if you press Ctrl+j ? Does the gadget show in your downloads? On Tools> Options screen, where do you have downloads set to download to? Did you look there?

You could try right click and save as to kind of forcefully download the file. Once you get the file you can just double click it to install it. I usually save all my gadgets so I can install them again if I reload anyhow and that is how I do it.

    Guy,
I just tried to download the HAL 9000 Gadget. There is no download activity happening at all. My Downloads Folder has no new items, Nor the does the programs files (x86)\windows sidebar\gadgets folder [except the ones loaded with Win 7.

Make sure nothing is interfering, such as an add-on like No-Script, if you have it installed.

Have you tried in a different browser, say IE?

What are the results of that?

Dear Doc Brown & Airbot, I am ashamed to admit it, but I have just turned traitor to Mozilla: I tried IE, that came with my computer, and Lo! Behold! We have download! It a darn shame folks need two web browsers just to used the internet.
    Thank you both,

Works OK for me in Firefox 4.0.1, and IE9, so might be some issue (addon) or something with your Firefox install.

At least you can get them downloaded though.
