    IconPackager Screwup.

    Hi all.

I've been having a tad bit of a problem. Icon packager wouldn't revert back to window's defaults correctly, so I got fed up and uninstalled it, thinking it would just set all my icons back to their native state. Instead, it's left a mess of my computer icons, a jumble of different packages rolled into one. I've tried rebuilding the icon cache, but that didn't work, and I can't restore my computer, since I installed it ages ago, doing a restore would remove almost all of my programs, and that would make more trouble then I have now. So, is there any other way to get me out of this pickle?

    Thanks,
    KaiN

If you have replaced system dll's with icons to custom ones you can try to repair them with
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Could also try restoring the system to a previous checkpoint http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...sked-questions

And one member reported here solving similar problem with TuneUp Styler from TuneUp Utilities 2010

If still not fixes (I guess so), see post 4 and post 5 of the thread Help! - How do i restore default icons? .

Post 5 is much easier option, IMO .

Perfect, solved my problem, just the floppy drive kept having the wrong icon, but I don't have a floppy, so that's all fine and dandy. Thanks again!
