    icon for ext hdd


    Hi all,
    I've just noticed my external HDD has this icon displayed. I've deleted icon cache and tried to import one with no luck. Is there perhaps no icon in Win 7 for an external drive? If so, how can I change this to an appropriate one?

    Hello lffoar,

    You might use OPTION ONE in the tutorial below to see if you may have a autorun.inf that needs to be deleted in the root directory of the external HDD. If not, then you could use step 10 in OPTION THREE in the same tutorial below to manually set what icon from the imageres.dll file to be display for the external HDD.

    Drive Icon - Change

    Brink, you are a legend!
    I didn't have any "thumbs" file there so I scrolled through your article and saw to delete the autorun.inf to go back to default. WALAHH all fixed
