Custom Screen Savers
Hi,
First post on this forum sorry if it is in the wrong area but not exactly sure where to post it. I downloaded the 'Xara 3D' program
I have designed a Screensaver, which has all gone well and works fine on my laptop screen but I have duplicate monitors and the screensaver does not come up on these in the same way a 'pre-installed' one would. I am running Windows 7 ultimate.
I have done a local search for *.scr and found that the pre-installed ones are duplicated in different files / folders, for example the 'Bubbles' screen saver is in the following folders / files
1.
System32
2.
SysWOW64
3.
C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-bubbles_31bf3856ad364e35_
6.1.7600.16385_none_ca7337e2e3a2a824
4.
C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-bubbles_31bf3856ad364e35_
6.1.7601.17514_none_cca44baae0912bbe
5.
C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-bubbles_31bf3856ad364e35_
6.1.7600.16385_none_6e549c5f2b4536ee
6.
C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-bubbles_31bf3856ad364e35_
6.1.7601.17514_none_7085b0272833ba88
Also when doing the search '*.scr' the file for the screensaver I created only shows up on the desktop and not in any of the syatem files even though if I go to personalise and look in the screen saver window it is there.
When I created the screensaver in Xara - I exported it to my desktop. Its properties say it is a .scr file (9mb) I right click on it and click install but apart from the desktop file it does not appear to be any where else on my system?
I tried to copy and paste it to the System32 folder but when in that folder it would not allow me to paste anything (Paste is greyed out) I am an administrator on the laptop.
One line of thought I had to get it to work on multiple monitors was to replace the 'Bubbles.scr' file in all the folders shown above with my file 'OSS.scr.' but again as I can't paste into them I can't test this to see if it would work?
Im confused !! and would really welcome any advice someone can offer me as its bugging the hell out of me now !! even though its not actually that important i am becoming obessesed in getting to the bottom of the issue !
Many thanks - Paul
