    Hello,

    Welcome to seven forums.

Since when is it appearing? Did you try system restore?
And most important : what theme are you using?

hi. i just got the laptop and i don't have a restore point. i need to make one and i wish i had now. i let a friend use it and its been there since this morning.
i've tried changing the theme to other saved themes but i can't get it back to normal.

Did you try to adjust the window color setting in the personalize section? Adjust the color transparency as well.

i've tried changing the color...its the same...like in the pic.
the little top bit is the color and its white below it. and it says start on the side for the menu instead of just having the icon. i just tried transparency and no change either.

But as I see it, you are not using an aero theme? Are you running Windows 7 Basic or another edition? Because that might be the problem.

can you post a full screenshot with a window enabled? :)

    you can also try this:

Start > Control Panel > All Control Panel items (so NOT the compact view - in the upper right of the window; select view as: large/small pictograms/icons). Go to TROUBLESHOOTING. Go to "Display Aero desktop Effects'

    Click on "View detailed information"
