here are some more registry files for different icons - such as flash, ghost, CD rom, hard disk - they go to letter H or I i believe.
Can change certain drives after doing the fix above. This way you can still tell what drives are what.
All credit must be given to leo - admin over at the directory opus forum.

    Thanks leo, t41

ps - to use with directory opus you must go to their forum and download the full .ocb file

I actually have a .reg file that re-assigns my drives' icons for my AIO card reader. The .reg file also renames the drive to the card type that can be inserted in each slot (and my SD slot and T-Flash slot share the same drive letter). (T-Flash is the old name for SD Micro cards popular with phones - my reader has a separate slot for them so I don't have to fool with an adapter).

You might also look at Installer for Custom Glossy Blue Icon Pack! and see if you two (or three, including Grimmy, who made the icons) can work a new solution incorporating your set as well as making a similar set using Grimmy's blue icons....

I already am using blue icons they are not Grimmy's however, but I personally like these more. A matter of taste. Here they are if someone wants them. Thanks anyway.

Screen shots would be *wonderful so we can see what they look like

As you can see above, I am using Grimmy's icons except for my AIO car reader.

i use DOpus and have see leo's icons on the forums but never bothered to mess with them.

tried this, looks nice, but i prefer to see optical drives as optical drives. otherwise i get confused.

tried your restore reg file, didn't work.

    running sfc now

hey Garbanzo, the restore file should work - if it did not then you can go - Open RegEdit.exe and go to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\DriveIcons

delete the DriveIcons key insode registry and all should go back to normal after reboot if not right away. That is how it works for my machine anyway. Sorry you had to run SFC. It was not reverting everytime for me as well. Guess maybe it's better to delete key than run reg key fix, as it only removes sub keys and not the driveletter key itself.

I also have these black icons from DA - i am posting the imageres file only - that is all i use.

I am using these icons now without the driveletter icons. The icons are form the DA inverted theme found Sewen Style Expansion Pack by ~rtwinph on deviantART

I am using these icons along with this theme - Elegant GRAY VS - Windows 7 RC by ~DjabyTown on deviantART

installed theme using this patcher - TCP-Z, Best TCP/IP Patch: Universal Theme Patcher (v1.5, Build 20090409)

link to black icon imageres.dll and icons themselves - http://files.getdropbox.com/u/105319...ion%20Pack.zip

    hope this helps a bit,t41

I changed the title to better reflect what this thread is about - you are not changing drive letters, you're adding large scale letter to the icons....
