did you just installed third party themes(not the ones that are made by microsoft) in your computer?did you patch some system files?because installing 3rd party themes requires you to patch your system files, otherwise it will really cause some problems..

I think you probably have 2 choices:

The first would be to take a look at this tutorial: How to Change the Windows 7 Default Folder Icon. Within this tutorial, Option 2 tells you how to restore the folder to the default folder icon. If that doesn't help you, at the end of the tutorial, toward the bottom of the page, is a long list of other tutorials on related subjects, followed by other posters' threads on the same or similar subjects.

Your 2nd option would be to do a System Restore to just before you changed the first of the three themes.

A little info is needed ... yours is SP1 or not ?

According to your answer, I may supply you resources and technique to restore the default icons back .

But if you go through a Repair Install , it will be solved , irrespective of the other things .

Not knowing what and how you installed it, it will be hard to diagnose but try running this up to three times and see if this helps SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker if that does not work like what Arc was saying you may have to replace a system file and then rebuild your icon cache. Run the scan and let us know.
