Do you have a link to this patch, or can you upload it in a ZIP file? I'll take a look at it to see what all it changes to see if it may had been able to affect this or not and create a undo for it for you.

You might also consider doing a system restore using a restore point dated before this happened to see if it may be able to fix it for you.

can I delete Windows Live Setup Folder
