Hmmm I prefer the previous version, there's more of a connection between the pen and the written text ) But can you please send me the modified layers (as a zipped psd file if possible) that way I can finish it? The drop shadow of the pen was the real nuisance, and now you've fixed for me :-D Thanks again, Dennis
I opened your zip in imported to Corel Draw.
In CD I can't save in PSD and zip it to you.
Just grab you pen shadow, rotate it, make it a little taller, then move to right of pen.
Your Athene is fine might want to add a shadow to right side of it to keep
    everything in uniform.

Please don't take the trouble, guys, since the modification is so quick and straightforward after Dennis's explanation, I've already done it myself now Thanks again, and regards from the extraterrestrial mushrooms...I visit them every year during the fair ;-D

Thanks Dennis :-D There's only one layer - I think they all got merged into one layer when they were converted to a psd file, but it doesn't matter ) I printed out your corrected version and copied the modification as closely as I could, and it was quite quick since there was just a bit of rotation involved

Okipoki I see where part of the problem is. Your correct Athene it's all to do with perspective and angles.

You will see from the example I've drawn that you have on the left (green arrow) an angle that doesn't correspond to the right hand side (orange arrow) Now you have the angle of the purple background diagonal lines fading into a different angle of the keyboard keys.
So this also means that the light source coming in from different angles will cast shadows in different directions and at different angles.
Now the name Athene is showing straight up but the pen wouldn't wright the name in this way it would show like in the middle picture but the problem is this isn't the correct perspective to the background so it looks a bit out.
It's really hard to explain this in words, but depth of field is quite hard to get correct. If you have ever used a 3D program like 3D Max or something like this, then lighting, angles & perspective is all done for you by the program.

The best way to see how light reacts to objects is by turning off the lights and setting up a desk lamp or two and angling the light in different ways to see how shadows are cast. Use a piece of white cardboard as a background and move it up/down left/right & backwards/forwards to get a better idea.
