Get Vista network status icon back

    Hi!

Is there a way to get the Vista network status icon back? I love it, it's very intuitive, it's beautiful, and I think the Win7 version is poor in comparison.

    Thanks.

Notice I'm not talking about the animated (blinking) XP icon. Looks like there are all kinds of Freeware tools that get you some kind of other icon, but the thing that would interest me is whether you could hack your way back to the original Vista icon.

If you just want to replace it and you have a copy of the Vista icons you can put it in the pnidui.dll in both C:\Windows\System32 & C:\Windows\SysWOW64
    the image numbers are
    3020, 3035, 3048, 3051, 3054, 3081 through 3089

Oh yeah, I was looking for something like this! But how am I going to do this? I'll have to extract the images from some Vista DLL (which I don't know) and then manipulate the aforementioned Win7 DLLs.

P.S. Funny, the website just replaced "W.i.n.7" with "Windows 7" (had to write it with periods this time)

Yes or look online for them. This so you how to change folder icons but it's the same way with the pnidui.dll Folder Icon - Change Default Icon

Okay, I'll try my luck. I wonder whether the Vista icon is actually compatible regarding its exact size, for instance, or whether it would get oddly resized.
