Did you install both System32 and SysWOW64 imageres.dll?
I can tell you the Recent Places icon I did not change in the .dll that's why it's not changing but the others should have.

Yes I put both system32 and syswow64 in. I just don't get why they are not changing. I even put back the originals restarted, then replaced them with the modified ones and then I shut down and still only certain icons change.
You have CCleaner ? Run the cleaner in the first place .... it will rebuild the icon cache and reset the thumbnail cache at once .
Then , click the more options button of the explorer window ... and slide the icon view sliders a bit upward or upward . It will force all the folders to change.
I would like to say thank you to all who helped me, I finely got it to work. I ran CCleaner and rebuilt icon cache again. So thank you again everyone.
My custom made token icons are free for download now!
