Buttons on Taskbar stretch to fill entire Taskbar

So i used IOBit Advanced System Care 5 to tweak some settings and apparently I messed something up lol I have reset them to default but it still does the same I have restarted several times, I haven't tried a system restore yet as that sometimes can cause problems beyond what it's worth, but I am willing to do it if it will help!

As you can see from the picture, when I have a single window open the button in the taskbar is stretched to fill the entire taskbar, if I open 2 they each take up 50% of the task bar and so on. I would like to return to normal sized buttons but I have no idea how to go about that!

Thanks in advanced if anyone can help, and PS I hope this isn't a repeat question I used the search function but the only threads I could seem to find were about stretching the taskbar across multiple monitors which is not what this is abut. so sorry for that if this is a common question

Welcome aboard, Charles Darwin Nice name

Advanced System Care 5 makes such a mess is reported earlier, too . First what I am to say you that windows 7 does not need any advanced system care at all . All these programs are not enough able to care windows 7 system. The inbuilt disk cleanup utility and CCleaner is enough for the OS.

Now let us discuss about the fix. If some registry backups are made by Advanced System Care 5 , restore those backups first.

If not fixed yet, follow SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker .

Another idea to fix it may be by applying the System Restore to an earlier date than occurrence of that mess.

If still not fixed, try Taskbar - Change Icon Button Width Size .

At the last point, you can always perform a Repair Install , when no other fixes are working.

Please post back with results :)

YAY! It was the "How to Change the Windows 7 Taskbar Icon Width Size" that fixed it! thanks! somehow it got changed to 0 so I assume that means infinite in windows language and thus it went across the entire screen.

    You are welcome

Now uninstall the Advanced System Care thing ! For your system, it is nothing but a trouble maker.
