Explorer windows size, position and layout

We are all familiar with the fact that for people who dont use a single window in explorer that windows 7 removed much functionality.

Window size, position and layout is not remembered anymore. For explorer and many application windows.

I've been using a program called windowmanager since windows 7 was released, but the product only sometimes works and is extremely frustrating to get it to work properly and consistently. Now that upgrades are no longer available to me I'm looking around for something else.

I remember reading here a couple of years ago about another product, but I can't find it. Does anyone know of such a product? Was it something MilesAhead wrote?

    thanks

You are probably looking for something like https://www.sevenforums.com/customiza...ions-size.html
I haven't used it myself, but looks like it is pretty popular.

Cool. thanks for that. I just had a look, it actually does some of the stuff, but not applications, for which it recommends exactly the product that doesn't work reliably.

I also found in the last 10 minutes a program called Actual Window Manager. Has anyone had any experience with that?

There is a small, little known free program named Sizer that I use to generate a custom sized Window. It has to be running all the time in the background however. Also once you close the resized Window it is back to its original size when it is opened next. However one can create the custom size by right clicking on the maximize Button and clicking on the custom size that has been set for it.

It serves my purpose admirably because there are only three program windows that do not open in a size that I want them in.
