Windows 7: Windows 7 "use small icons" + Date

WIN7 x64 Home Premium SP1

If you hover your arrow over the time it shows the date. You should only have to do this once a day. A simple fix is to download a calender gadget to your desktop and you can see the whole month at a time. :)

Making files in subfolders sort by "Date" or "Date Taken" by default?
(Running Windows 7 Professional x64 SP1) I'm a professional photographer and have recently begun shooting with two cameras simultaneously at events. They use different file names to avoid duplicate names/confusion, i.e. IMG_175000 and XMG_175000. Often times I'll take a photo with one camera and...

Taskbar "Use Small Icons" Disabled
I want to select this option of my taskbar to make it smaller like Vista but for some weird reason it is grayed out and unable to be changed. Can anyone explain why and/or how to do it from the registry? Thanks to any response.
