Quick rundown on how I get a "deep etched" (cutout/sharp edge image)
1. Drew the image in Vector format
2. Added all the shading/lighting
3. Converted the image to bitmap, and added the "sphere effect"
4. Bitmap is pretty dithered, so I need to sharpen the edges.
5. Created a "vector" "elipse" in CorelDraw. (blue outline)
6. Used the "intersect with" function in Corel, (this sort of cuts the image out) so now I have a "metafile" (bitmap/vector combined image) so the dithering (jaggys) is now minimalized, this also means I can put solid objects behind the image (black block)
The beauty of doing it this way is that I can now click on image 6 and goto "edit bitmap" and I can then do colour changes, effects or whatever etc. and the image still keeps it's crisp outline.
