    Right click on your task bar and untick "Lock the taskbar" Now hover over the edge of your taskbar until you see an arrow. Click and drag your taskbar to the required size. Rightclick on the task bar again and select "Lock the taskbar" again. Done.

    sorry i should have been more clear, ive got the taskbar widened but i cant work out how to get the icons to line up side by side...like maybe three or 4 in a row

    I think you mean Quick Launch, the samll icons just under yhe Start Orb? If so, check this.

    tried that but it doesnt look like its the same thing. also i cant get it up to the top under the orb
