Are you trying to change the thumbnail preview back to displaying an icon, and not the preview? In addition to Bongo's suggestions, there are a couple of other ways to do that:

ALT+TAB - Use Classic Icons or Default Thumbnails - How to Use Classic Icons or Thumbnail Previews with ALT+TAB Keyboard Shortcut. This will show you how to either have classic icons or the default Thumbnails Previews of opened windows and programs displayed when you use the ALT+TAB keyboard shortcut in Windows 7 or Vista.

Or you can go to Control Panel, Advance System Settings, System Properties, Advanced, Performance Options, Visual Effects, Click “Custom,” + UNcheck the relevant options in AeroPeek in Performance Options.
