Maybe a shot in the dark, but have you rerun WEI since adding the new GPU? Try running the assessment again, and see if it completes successfully.

All ticked.
A Guy: Yes, I have tried that to.
Right click on the desktop> Personalize> Windows Colors> Is Enable Transparency checked?
Also, have you updated the video driver?

just had to do a repair install because Aero was broken after what I presume was a Windows Update (possibly something didn't agree with my current customizations?)
I was totally dead in the water - how are other things working? Like right clicking the desktop, add/remove programs, restore point, internet, sound...my broken Aero was just the visual indicator something major was wrong
have you tried running a restore point? can you?
after a day and half of making and breaking my system, back on track!
Hi Scottie, did you change your GPU or update the driver? In you first post you only said you had updated it.
If you only updated the driver, try rolling back to your previous one, nVIDIA makes buggy ones at times.
In Device Manager look at Monitors and see if it says Generic PnP Monitor, if so run Windows update to see if it will find a monitor driver.
rerun your experience index score. (in system properties)
though seemingly unrelated it fixed this problem for me on a machine recently.
In this order,
Download and install the Driver Sweeper.
Download the most recent software\driver for your NVIDIA .
Uninstall nvidia software\driver,restart in safe mode, run driver sweeper, choose only NVIDIA-Display and clean, restart in normal mode.
Install the new nvidia software\driver,restart.
Update DirectX restart.
Reset\rerun WEI Windows Experience Index - Reset
Follow OPTION ONE Reset WEI in Advanced Tools
A guy: When I click on windows color I get this window..... no check box?
Mr Pc: I did that when the problem first appeared and it fixed it for about an hour. everything else seems to work fine. it honestly seems to be just a visual issue.
Britton: I did that to, it never changed anything when i rolled back/updated. Either way, nothing and this is my device manager.
Maguscreed: done that several times, thanks.
Panais: I will attempt that fix when I get home this afternoon, I shall return with the results!
Thanks everyone!
Ahhh, it may be a catch-22 situation, but you must 1st select an aero theme to get the windows color I was speaking of. Can you indeed set an aero theme? Even if it is just not displaying correctly.

You might try the Trouble shoot Problems with Tranparency link too. It doesn't work half of the time, but worth a shot.
