Mounting items to the start menu

You know how in Windows XP and Vista, it has that "Internet: Microsoft Internet Explorer" and an email icon at the very top of the start menu? And it would change if you set something like Firefox to your default browser.

Is there a way to get that back in Windows 7? My start menu just seems shorter than usual to me, and I like mounting frequently-used programs in there, so I don't have to keep searching for them.

Just right click on any program from the start menu and choose Pin to Start Menu.

    Oh great, thanks.

It's not gonna say "Internet (Mozilla Firefox)" but just Firefox, eh?

    Oh well, that's fine, I know it's a web browser :)

You can rename the Firefox shortcut first to that, then pin it to the Start Menu to have that name. :)
