    How to reset icons?

I used IconPackager, and even when I uninstalled it, some of the folder icons, plus the little shortcut icon aren't the W7 default. I tried manually deleting everything stardock-related, and looking in the Registry, but nothing helps.

    What do I do?

    Hello Cam,

Doing a System Restore using a restore point dated before you made these icon changes with this program may be able to restore everything for you.

The tutorial below will show you how to restore the default shortcut overlay arrow icon though.

    Hope this helps,

When I do a System Restore, does that mean I have to re-install my apps?

That depends on how far back you go..look for a restore point a day or 2 before you made your changes..

Don't do a System Restore until you try this:
Delete IconCache.db in your C:/Users/Username/AppData/Local folder
Then restart and report if you solved the problem...

    Cam,

Deleting that file rebuilds the icon cache. If that is your problem, then it may help. If not, then you may need to try a System Restore.

Yeah, it didn't work. The thing is, I've been putting up with this for a while. If I System Restore to a long time ago, does that mean I have to re-install all my apps, re-download my music, etc?

Only if you installed them after the date of the restore point. Anything in your user folders will not be affected though.

I had the same problem when using Iconpackager and the only real fix will be a fresh install unless you have a restore point before you installed it, deleting the icon cache wont help nor will a repair install.
