A new sig for Archie. Took me about half and hour to do as I'm still learning to make orbs properly. The thing I'm having trouble with is trying to make it look glassy (for example, like the ones in Nick's sigs). Any tips?

Anyway, here it is. Hope you like it.

Okidoki here's a quick rundown on how to create a shiny orb with transparency so you can plonk something inside it. I've attached all the elements below in a psd file with all the layers intact for you to play around with.

First Create your orb as normal then (see image)
    1. Look online for an image that bends or warps similar to the ones shown. You can create your own if needed by using the "mesh warp" or "sphere" effect (tutorial here)
    2. Fade the image out so the bottom is almost invisible
    3. *IMPORTANT this is the bit that has the most effect. Change the "mode" to "overlay" or "hardlight" Drop the "opacity" a bit if it's to shiny/bright.
    4. Bring in the image that you want to be "inside" the orb move it down a couple of layers so it's behind some of the "glow" "shade" layers

----- This effect will work in Corel Photo paint, Photoshop & GIMP -----

    That's about it .... enjoy

Thank you Arc the OP had been trying to get the original image to work as a start orb but it was an invalid image and at first I tried to convert it to BMP myself without success, however I just read your post and you are right it is an involved process having tried to follow Zalith's tut .

But you and the rest of the talented members here make everything seem elementary because of your speed and skill.

Edit: read your 2nd post too and learned something wasn't sure what type of images you are allowed to use as I've seen Superman orbs etc. created by others.

Rob, I really cannot help there .

Follow this page only ... you will be able to understand my point. #Start-Orb-Artists on deviantART

I had to pay a price for my learning curve.

That's why I help in those situations. Follow the earlier pages of the orbs thread .... I did the same thing many a times, what the OP asked here.

Yea sorry about that Arc I thought you could just get the original image to work properly without infringing upon the original artists rights but I guess it would be the same as someone copying one of Brink's tuts.

PS. the OP in a latter post is now also correctly requesting help from where they downloaded the image at DA.

I'm sure the two gentlemen are perfectly capable of finding their own footwear...their nostrils should give them a good hint
